This is my interpretation of the song “Night Train” performed by Jason Aldean
After much listening to this song, I’m pretty sure that Jason needs to find
less psychotic writers for songs.

I’ve been thinkin’ bout you all day baby
(She’s been on his mind a lot, which is kind of obsessive)
waitin’ on that sun to go down
(Why is he waiting till night time? So no one can see the evil thing he’s about to do)
whatcha say I pick you up after work
(He’s going to pick her up, so she doesn’t have a getaway vehicle, and after work she wouldn’t have went home to tell anyone where she was)
slide over, well slip out to the outskirts of town
(So what’s wrong with hanging around town, why they hang out on the outskirts that are scarce with people? hmmmmm)
got a blanket and a fifth of comfort
(a blanket to keep her DNA out of his truck, and alcohol to blame her drunken stooper on the “accident”, and to keep her sense of danger at a low)
a little something to knock off the edge
(exactly, to let her guard down)
it’s supposed to get a little cool tonight
(It’s cool outside, so she’ll have to be close to him, so less chance of an escape, and he could just simply push her on the tracks)
looks like I’m gonna have to hold you tight… yeah
(And it looks like, keeping her at arms length is the way he’s going to go about this murder)

[Chorus:]
Bout a mile off old mill road

(about a mile, not specific directions, that’s probably not even the name of the road…that murderer)
in that spot nobody knows
(secluded area, off of an old mill road? Not suspicious enough yet? Nobody knows of this area….continue reading)
park the truck and we take off running
(He parks the truck far away from the crime scene so the track aren’t around, and so if she’s still alive, she won’t make it back to the truck before he take off)
hurry up, girl I hear it coming
(Doesn’t even refer to her as baby, or sweetie. Just hey girl, hurry up. Why is he in such a hurry to see this train anyway? Everyone’s seen a train before)
got a moon and a billion stars
(“Oh wow, look at the pretty stars in the sky” **pushes her in front of a speeding train**. Why point out stars, if you’re so eager to see a damn train)
sound of steel and old box cars
(It’s like this calling card, as soon as he hears the train, the feeling of wanting to kill comes into his brain, and he can’t shake the feeling)
the thought of you is driving me insane
(The thought of her being around, is making him crazy, and the sound of the train is feeding to his psychotic side, and he’s wanting to push her down on the tracks)
come on baby lets go listen to the night train
(Or should it be saying “Come on baby, lets go “listen” to the night train” . He calls her baby here, because he has come to terms with the deed he’s about to perform
so he’s buttering her up, before he whacks her!)

yeah I hope its gonna be a long one

(He wants it to be a long one, so all the evidence is scattered on the tracks)
if were lucky its moving slow
(That sinister man, wanting the train to move slow, so it’s painful)
wouldn’t mind if it lasted all night
(If the train last’s all night, then there would be nothing for him to worry about, it would look like a complete accident….)
lying next to you on that hillside lets go
(Knowing this psychotic person, he’s probably going to get a piece of the body and lay next to it. Like a trophy for his success)

***He repeats this chorus to pump himself up…like a pep-talk into doing the deed**

[Chorus:]
Bout a mile off old mill road
(about a mile, not specific directions, that’s probably not even the name of the road…that murderer)
in that spot nobody knows
(secluded area, off of an old mill road? Not suspicious enough yet? Nobody knows of this area….continue reading)

Let’s go listen to the night train [x2]

(In his mind, listen means
Lay
In
Silence
The
end
Nears)
[Chorus]

(Again with the pep-talk)

Now, after reading this interpretation of this song, is there a verse about her and him afterwards, no. Is there are verse about what they do after they “listen” to the train no. I have to say,

This is probably the most brutal song I have ever heard.
